Strathendrick and Portobello’s players are smiling this week having lifted silverware at the weekend.
Before the weekend, Blairgowrie had won the BT Caledonia Regional Bowl Midlands last month and Moray had been crowned the BT Caledonia Regional Bowl North champions.
And on Saturday Strathendrick won the BT West Regional Bowl with a 25-5 victory over Loch Lomond.
Their skipper Kyle Campbell said: “We were delighted with the win against a typically strong Loch Lomond. Having played them twice this season we knew how strong a forward pack they have and our game plan was always to try and keep them moving by shifting the point of contact and kicking to corners to make them have to attack from deep.
“The first half couldn’t have gone better. They were hardly out of their own half and although it took us a while before getting the score board going, we always felt we had the upper hand.
“Eventually we scored two tries with good handling throughout for both. We led 20-0 at half-time.
“We had a tougher second half, but we held on and it is great for the club.”
Also, Portobello lifted the BT East Regional Bowl after a cracking showing to defeat RDVC 47-6.
The four Bowl winners will now go through to the semi-finals of the national competition and are just one game away from BT Murrayfield.
