Richie Vernon returns to his back-row roots this weekend as Glasgow Warriors take on the Dragons in the Guinness PRO12 at Scotstoun on Saturday (kick-off 3pm, live on Sky Sports 2).
Vernon, now 29, made his name in the back-row coming through the ranks and earned 20 Scotland caps in the position up to 2012.
He then switched to centre in the 2013/14 season and earned four more Scotland caps in his new position in 2015, including an appearance at a second World Cup.
Since thehe has been dogged by injuries, but he has been back in recent weeks and now he is pressed into duties at No.8 with the likes of Josh Strauss and Adam Ashe injured and Ryan Wilson with Scotland.
Elsewhere, Lee Jones, who committing his future to the Warriors yesterday, will make his 50th appearance.
Henry Pyrgos came off the bench for Scotland in their victory over Wales at BT Murrayfield last weekend and he returns to club duty to Captain the side.
Tim Swinson returns from Scotland duty too to join Brian Alainu’uese in the secomd-row.
On the bench, Brandon Thomson and Ratu Tagive are in line to make their home debuts.
Glasgow Warriors Head Coach Gregor Townsend said: “We are determined to get back to winning ways and there is no better place to do that than in front of our home crowd.”
Hooker James Malcolm has successfully undergone surgery on his ankle at BMI Ross Hall Hospital and is likely to be out of action for 10-12 weeks.
